Doncaster 6mm Twin & Earth Cable

We been doing kitchen rewires everyday for the past year and recently we decided to change from Pitacs to Doncaster for supplying power to Induction hobs. We found that the cable is a lot more flexible and easy to work with. We can now easily make a connection in a 35mm deep metal box and even 25mm with some 45A Cooker outlets.

The thermoplastic insulation is a bit softer and easier to remove which makes work a lot easier but at the same time it is easier to damage with pliers or against sharp edges. It is even more important to remember to fit grommets where the cable enters metal box.

The cable is a bit more expensive but factoring the time it saves when wiring in and flexibility of using boxes that are not as deep makes up for it. We would recommend it careful professionals that would like to finish work quicker but not for DIYers as this cable is less forging when making mistakes and is easier to damage. Veteran electricians are most likely already more accustomed to Pitacs cables and would rather go with cheaper cable that is just as safe.
